AI Terms

The terms for Pactinel's AI features: how customer documents are processed, no training on customer data, verification duties, limits and your controls.

Reviewed on October 22, 20263 min read

These AI Terms add to the Terms of Service for the AI features of Pactinel, such as extraction of fields from contracts, suggestions of obligations and dates, and questions about a contract. The company named in the Imprint is "Pactinel". The AI principles page summarizes the commitments in plain language.

1. What the AI features do

The AI reads documents you upload, proposes values such as dates, terms and parties, with source page, highlighted text and a confidence value, suggests obligations and clause tags, and answers questions about a contract with citations. Which features are available depends on your plan.

2. How your documents are processed

Before text leaves our servers, we mask personal data that is not needed, such as email addresses, phone numbers, bank account numbers and national identifiers, and we send only the pages relevant to the task. Customer documents are processed only by the AI inference provider listed for that purpose on the Subprocessors page, which runs the models in the United States and is bound not to retain the data. Pactinel selects the provider and the models; customers cannot change them. A different AI platform used in development and testing is never used with customer documents. As of October 2026 the provider for customer documents has not been named; it will be named, and customers notified, before any customer document is processed.

3. No training and no other use

Customer Data, including documents, prompts, outputs and corrections you make, is not used to train or improve any AI model, by Pactinel or by any provider, and is not used for any purpose other than providing the Service to you. Corrections you make are stored in your workspace as part of your data. Pactinel may measure the quality of AI output using its own test sets of public or anonymized contracts, not Customer Data.

4. Verification and responsibility

AI output may be incomplete, wrong or out of date. AI proposes; you decide. Fields are shown as drafts until a person verifies them, and critical fields (end date, renewal type, notice period and value) must be verified before a contract becomes active. You are responsible for reviewing output before relying on it, for the content you upload and for decisions you take.

AI output, calculations and drafts are not legal advice and do not create a lawyer-client relationship. Pactinel is not a law firm.

6. Your controls

An Owner can turn AI off for the workspace; the Service then works with manual entry, spreadsheet import and rules. Admins with the right permission can set the confidence threshold. When AI is off, documents are not sent to the AI provider.

7. Quotas and availability

Plans include a number of AI pages each month, and an import allowance. A platform-wide daily spend cap and per-workspace quotas apply. When a limit is reached, AI work stops with a clear message. If the AI service is unavailable, work queues and retries, and the product shows that extraction is delayed. We may change models, routing and prompts to improve quality, security or cost; each change is tested against reference contracts before release. We do not promise a particular accuracy.

8. Your obligations

You must have the right to upload documents and have them processed with AI, including any consent or notice that data protection law requires for personal data in them. Do not upload special categories of personal data unless necessary and lawful. Follow the Acceptable Use Policy.

9. Intellectual property

You own your documents and your output. AI output may be similar to output given to others because models respond to similar inputs; we do not promise that output is unique or free of third-party rights.

10. Liability

The liability provisions of the Terms of Service apply to the AI features.

11. Changes

We may change these AI Terms using the change process of the Terms of Service. If a change allows new uses of Customer Data, it applies only with your consent.
